| Morten is a man
from Denmark after
my own heart; he has owned multiple `59 Chevys! Being Danish
myself, I can understand his desire to own the world's greatest car in
bunches like grapes! It's an addiction really; when you have one,
you want two. If you have two, you need parts. So you buy a
parts car, which ends up becoming the wife's daily driver. So you
have to buy another parts car! It all escalates into a big
crazy car cult in your driveway. Soon, your neighbors are describing
you to their friends as "the dude next door with all the cool cars." Back to Morten. Imagine how difficult -- not to mention expensive -- it would be to restore a `59 Chevy in another country. All the parts are all here, and they all have to be shipped. Even Morten's new project cars show up at the docks in shipping containers! But it's great to see that his love for our favorite car transcends any hurdle he may endure. I'm told there aren't many of these cars in Europe, and to have a convertible is even more amazing! So how did Morten end up with all these coold cars? Well here at Chevy59.com, we feel that it's better for the owners to tell their own stories. Therefore, here's an abridged copy of the email Morten sent: |

I am a 59 Chevy freak myself - I have owned a number of 59's over the years, and currently drive a black 59 Impala convertible with red interior, 348 six pack and continental kit, which I have owned since 1982. I also own a 59 9-pass. Kingswood, which I am restoring right now. As you can probably image, getting parts for 59's here in Denmark is really a pain - everything needs to be located in the US and sent over. I worked in Canada for a year between 1982 and 83. I had just finished restoring a 4-door `59 Impala when I got there, so I really wanted to find a 59 convertible. I found it two weeks after I got to Canada. The car was rough, rusty and dented, but it was love at first sight. I used it as daily driver "as is" while working there, and restored it when I got back to DK. The car is kept completely original, or as close you can get when it is restored.
